Benefits Of Assisted Stretching

At Maryville Stretching, we don’t just improve your flexibility—we help you move better, feel better, and live better. Our advanced approach uses Fascial Alignment Stretching Technique (F.A.S.T.) to deliver lasting results you can feel from head to toe.

Increases Range of Motion - Unlock your body’s potential.
F.A.S.T. combines the power of PNF stretching with targeted myofascial release to break through mobility restrictions. Whether you're tight from training or stiff from sitting, our sessions help you move more freely and effortlessly.

Pain Management - Address the root of the pain.
Muscle imbalances, compressed nerves, and poor circulation are common pain triggers. Our unique approach helps relieve conditions like back pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, and more—by restoring balance and alignment in your body.

Improves Performance - Train harder. Recover faster.
Athletes rely on us to improve range of motion, prevent injury, and speed up recovery. When your body moves without restriction, you can perform at your best—in the gym, on the field, or in everyday life.

Reduces Stress - Relax your body. Reset your mind.
Stretching with guided breath work isn’t just good for your muscles—it’s good for your mental health. Let go of physical tension and emotional stress as you experience deep, intentional release.

Improves Posture - Stand tall. Move right.
Tight, overworked muscles pull your body out of alignment. Stretching with F.A.S.T. helps lengthen those trouble areas and restore natural posture. It's why the most common phrase we hear is,

"I feel taller!"

Feels Amazing - This isn’t just stretching—it’s an experience.
A full-body assisted stretch is like nothing else. The increase in circulation, the attention to neglected areas, and the deep release you feel afterward is something you have to experience to believe.

Can Stretching Help With My Pain?

Stretching isn’t just for athletes or people trying to touch their toes. It’s one of the most powerful and natural ways to reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve overall function—especially when it's done the right way.

At Maryville Stretching, we specialize in helping people feel better by addressing the root causes of their pain through advanced stretching techniques.

Can stretching help my back pain?

Yes. Tight hip flexors, hamstrings, and lower back muscles are often the silent contributors to chronic back pain. When these muscles are shortened or imbalanced, they pull on your spine and create compression.

Our assisted stretching sessions target these problem areas and use F.A.S.T. to release fascial restrictions that affect spinal alignment and posture. Many clients experience significant relief—even after just a few sessions.

Can stretching help with sciatica?

Absolutely. Fascial tightness in the hips and lower back can compress or irritate the sciatic nerve. F.A.S.T. focuses on releasing these restrictions—especially around the piriformis muscle and gluteal fascia—to reduce nerve irritation and restore healthy movement.

Clients with sciatica often experience improved mobility, less nerve pain, and fewer flare-ups after incorporating F.A.S.T. into their routine.

Can stretching help my neck pain?

Yes. Neck pain is rarely just a “neck problem.” It’s often connected to tight fascial lines running through the shoulders, upper back, and even the chest. F.A.S.T. takes a whole-body approach—gently releasing fascial tension in interconnected areas that affect neck alignment and mobility.

The result? Less tension, improved posture, and a noticeable reduction in discomfort.

Can stretching help plantar fasciitis?

Yes. The fascia in the foot is directly connected to a larger network of tissue that runs up the back of your legs and into your spine. F.A.S.T. addresses plantar fasciitis by releasing restrictions not just in the foot, but also in the calves, hamstrings, and back—reducing the strain on the plantar fascia and allowing it to heal properly.

Can stretching help arthritis pain?

Yes. While F.A.S.T. can’t reverse arthritis, it can make a big difference in how your body feels. Tight fascia around arthritic joints contributes to stiffness, limited range of motion, and discomfort. By releasing that tension and improving circulation, F.A.S.T. helps joints move more freely and reduces day-to-day stiffness.

Stretching Success Stories

I have been a member of Maryville Fitness for seven plus years and love how it makes me feel! Being a teacher, I am very active during the school year and feel like I am in constant motion. But the summer poses issues for me as we travel with long car rides or flights and a more sedentary lifestyle.  This leads to my lower back and hips hurting.

This year before the summer adventures began, I took advantage of the stretching sessions that Dustin offered. I could feel the results immediately! It was not painful, yet a slow methodical stretch that really touched muscles that I do not normally get to when I do my own stretches.

Dustin would constantly check as he did the stretches on if anything hurt and also would count out the breathing patterns. This helped me focus and relax in order to get the most out of it. At the conclusion of the session, I could immediately feel the benefits. I felt limber, energetic, and most of all, no back or hip pain!

After completing 18 months of chemotherapy, I found that I had lost much of my flexibility.  Searching for an affordable solution to be stretched, I started with contacting physical therapists, only to discover that none which I contacted offered assisted stretching; which is the type of stretching I needed, not just being showed stretches and performing them by myself!  Fortunately, I ran across a FB post for Mary Fitness.

I immediately set up an appointment to meet with Dustin to discuss my desire to regain my flexibility and strength.  I opted for the once per week assisted stretching by Dustin at Maryville Stretching.  Since receiving assisting stretching by Dustin at his Maryville Fitness location, I can absolutely feel the improvement!

My range of motion has vastly improved, this improvement was even recognized by my chiropractor – they noted my increased flexibility and posture improvement.  My assisted stretching appoints with Dustin are comfortable, with Dustin explaining each stretch and constantly “checking in” with each stretch to ensure that I am feeling the stretch in the intended areas without any sharp pains, and minimal discomfort.

Additionally, Dustin provided me with “at home” stretches to augment his assisted stretching program.  I am very pleased and I am very comfortable recommending Maryville Stretching!

I have been going to stretching sessions with Dustin for approximately nine months. I was initially interested the assisted stretching as a way to address some pain/issues I was having with my left shoulder.

The issues I was having have greatly improved since I started, and my overall mobility has increased. The experience is relaxing and has also been a good stress reducer for me as well. I feel like the best way to describe the effects of a stretching session is that of a good massage combined with a great yoga class.

The stretches are so much more effective with the assistance of Dustin, more so than anything I could accomplish on my own. I highly recommend assisted stretching!

As a retired teacher and now grandmother of 6, I needed and wanted to maintain my current activity level, if not improve it! I had noticed that, since retiring, my joints had begun to feel stiff, beginning in my hips.

Since my husband is a very satisfied fitness client of Dustin’s, I was thrilled to see his introduction of an assisted stretching program. This was a perfect fit! I saw improvement after only one 45-minute session. When I went to yoga class that evening, I could already notice a small, but significant, change. I have only had 2 sessions and I look forward to many more.

Dustin is gentle and makes sure that he isn’t causing any pain. Instead of any pain, the stretching feels wonderful. Eventually, we will focus on these joints that are most stiff for me- my hips and lower back. Dustin is so kind and easy to talk to. I’m glad I’ve made that first step towards increased wellness!

Maryville Stretching review - Maryville, IL

I have a curvature in my spine and with age have been diagnosed with mild arthritis in my left hip. Over the Pre pandemic, I sought relief from the pain with chiropractic care and massages which provided temporary relief from pain. Post pandemic, after the first flare up with arthritis, I was started on a prescription anti inflammatory medication and went to physical therapy.

The arthritis calmed down but I always had pain in my hip which I tried to control with alternating OTC and Prescription medications. In the next two years, the mobility and pain progressively worsened, despite exercising, and ended up with a second flare up of arthritis. Thankfully the arthritis is still mild, but frustrated at the thought I would have to live life with pain and medications.

I came across Maryville Fitness stretching on my FB feed. I thought “what have I got
to lose!” and decided to try stretching with Dustin. In just 1 session, I felt remarkably better. I had less hip pain, felt more aligned and could stand straighter and longer. I’m looking forward to see how much I improve with more sessions and thankful I decided to try stretching.

Dustin is very professional, communicates what he is doing and how I should breath to help the stretch and attentive to how I’m feeling during each stretch. What have you got to lose?
