Hey!
My name is Dustin Pelate and this is how I have come to specialize working with adults 40 and over, the most underserved members of the fitness community. I started off as a trainer in 2008 in Collinsville. In less than 18 months, I had a full list of clients and learned a great deal as well as dedicating myself to getting clients great results.
Most of my clients were over 40 and I greatly enjoyed working with them and changing their lives for the better. I soon learned that to get my clients great results, I would have to learn more about nutrition, which accounts for 60 to 80 percent of anyone’s goals, especially weight loss.
In 2012, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in human nutrition and dietetics.
Having worked with trainers and witnessed trainers give out misguided, incomplete, and dangerous advice, I understood my clients deserved better.
In 2015, I opened Maryville Fitness.
My goal was to create an intimidation-free and FUN environment for adults 40 and over to reach their fitness, weight loss, and health-related goals.
We even have clients in their 70’s that prove age is just a number when it comes to fitness and health.

Each Stretching Session is personalized to you. You are stretched based on your needs. Each session is used to help your body recover from life, work and working out. Stretching Sessions help with better flexibility, movement, athletic performance and aches & pains. I recommend starting out with our Intro Stretching Session so that we can start you off with a detailed Alignment & Flexibility Assessment.
When you come in for your Stretching Session, we will first start out with a quick alignment assessment that allows me to know where to focus on. As I take you through each stretch, we will be working on breathing and slowly increasing your flexibility and range of motion. During the Stretching Session, you will become more relaxed and start to see the benefits of the combination of stretches. After the session you will feel much looser and might feel like you are "walking on the moon" or "floating" which are common terms used by our clients. You simply feel looser and move with ease.
Stretching helps with muscle imbalances, muscle activation, flexibility, mobility and all of the little aches you get through the day. Stretching also provides a huge increase in quality of life when it comes to how you move. It helps performance in different athletics from running, jumping and overall strength.
We use a non-invasive stretching technique called the F.A.S.T. Stretching. The F.A.S.T. stands for Fascial Alignment Stretching Technique.
The F.A.S.T. Stretching is like no other stretching technique because it is designed to solve your body’s muscle imbalances and alignment issues that are causing your limited flexibility, aches, pains and tightness.
The F.A.S.T. Stretching improves your flexibility and mobility, and creates freedom of pain-free movement. This allows you to move better, perform better, do better and feel younger every day.
All of our Stretch Coaches at Marryville Stretch have wellness experience and are nationally certified in the F.A.S.T. Stretching by the National Stretching Institute, which is the industry leader in hands-on stretching education.
Each 45-minute, hands-on Stretching Session is done in a private, one-on-one setting and personalized to your specific needs.
Your Stretch Coach will perform two comprehensive assessments to see what is pulling your body out of alignment. Then, your Stretch Coach will be able to perform the best stretches that will directly target your specific tightness, imbalances and restrictions that are causing your aches and pains and limiting the activities you are able to do.

I have been a member of Maryville Fitness for seven plus years and love how it makes me feel! Being a teacher, I am very active during the school year and feel like I am in constant motion. But the summer poses issues for me as we travel with long car rides or flights and a more sedentary lifestyle. This leads to my lower back and hips hurting. This year before the summer adventures began, I took advantage of the stretching sessions that Dustin offered. I could feel the results immediately! It was not painful, yet a slow methodical stretch that really touched muscles that I do not normally get to when I do my own stretches. Dustin would constantly check as he did the stretches on if anything hurt and also would count out the breathing patterns. This helped me focus and relax in order to get the most out of it. At the conclusion of the session, I could immediately feel the benefits. I felt limber, energetic, and most of all, no back or hip pain!

After completing 18 months of chemotherapy, I found that I had lost much of my flexibility. Searching for an affordable solution to be stretched, I started with contacting physical therapists, only to discover that none which I contacted offered assisted stretching; which is the type of stretching I needed, not just being showed stretches and performing them by myself! I have been going to stretching sessions with Dustin for approximately nine months. I was initially interested the assisted stretching as a way to address some pain/issues I was having with my left shoulder. The issues I was having have greatly improved since I started, and my overall mobility has increased. The experience is relaxing and has also been a good stress reducer for me as well. I feel like the best way to describe the effects of a stretching session is that of a good massage combined with a great yoga class. The stretches are so much more effective with the assistance of Dustin, more so than anything I could accomplish on my own. I highly recommend assisted stretching!

As a retired teacher and now grandmother of 6, I needed and wanted to maintain my current activity level, if not improve it! I had noticed that, since retiring, my joints had begun to feel stiff, beginning in my hips. Since my husband is a very satisfied fitness client of Dustin’s, I was thrilled to see his introduction of an assisted stretching program. This was a perfect fit! I saw improvement after only one 45-minute session. When I went to yoga class that evening, I could already notice a small, but significant, change. I have a curvature in my spine and with age have been diagnosed with mild arthritis in my left hip. Over the Pre pandemic, I sought relief from the pain with chiropractic care and massages which provided temporary relief from pain. Post pandemic, after the first flare up with arthritis, I was started on a prescription anti inflammatory medication and went to physical therapy. The arthritis calmed down but I always had pain in my hip which I tried to control with alternating OTC and Prescription medications. In the next two years, the mobility and pain progressively worsened, despite exercising, and ended up with a second flare up of arthritis. Thankfully the arthritis is still mild, but frustrated at the thought I would have to live life with pain and medications.
I came across Maryville Fitness stretching on my FB feed. I thought “what have I got
to lose!” and decided to try stretching with Dustin. In just 1 session, I felt remarkably better. I had less hip pain, felt more aligned and could stand straighter and longer. I’m looking forward to see how much I improve with more sessions and thankful I decided to try stretching. Dustin is very professional, communicates what he is doing and how I should breath to help the stretch and attentive to how I’m feeling during each stretch. What have you go to lose?
